Paris: "Fluctuat nec megitur"- "Tossed but not Sunk."

Paris: “Fluctuat nec mergitur”–

“Tossed but not Sunk.”

It has always been:
“see Paris and live”
today, modern Thanotos
wants it be: “see Paris and die.”

Oh! Paris the intellectual
headquarters of Europe-
the city of-art, literature,
music, and culture;
what a shame! Perses
turning off your intellectual
light, giving your dolor,
wants to make you
a destructive home,
and tombstone of Europe.

What has become of
“Paradise of Europe”?
A classic city-known for its
great walls, thirty-three old and
new boulevards, twelve avenues,
and seven quais.

A rare and historic city,
identified by its un-usual
gastronomy-“bon vivant”-
connoisseurship of
food and fine wines.

A leading European city,
whose 1789 revolution
re-created Europe, shaped,
and redefined a new republic-
United States of America.

Paris-home to “Grands
Boulevards-Galleries Lafayette,
Boulevard Beaumarchais”;
why are the wicked
drawing blood from
“Boulevard du Crime-
Theatres de la Foire,
Porte Saint-Martin,
Boulevard du Temple”?
After all, these are mere
auditoria to entertain and
to make souls be joyful.

Why are the agents of darkness
staining “Haussmannian
Boulevard” with innocent
blood?
Why making “Boulevard de
Maréchaux weep when not
necessary?

Paris-the innocent and
peaceful city of Europe,
in you-pigeons-have
found peace and dwell,
even doves have built
dovecotes for millennial;
why are workers of
lawlessness causing you
trouble,
turning you to Golgotha?

Oh! Paris-what are your
crimes?
Why the cruelty, savagery,
and truculence against you?
Why paying your act of
benevolence and graciousness
with belligerence and
bellicosity?

Paris-city everyone
comes-in winter, summer,
autumn, and spring to pick ideas,
just as saffron lovers go to
“Italy, Spain, and Iran”
to make date with it;
why now re-branding you
as city of death?
Why replacing your joyful hymn
with threnody and coronach?

Paris-why are your haters
changing your identity of
beauty and history to
blood and violence?

Why substituting your
centuries of goodness
with evil and destruction?
Why changing your place in
history-the link between
the past and present to the
seat of network-of-evil?

What have you done to
warrant this carnage?
Your welcoming spirit-
the evil has temporarily
dampened,
your open heart,
the wicked poisoned,
your large heart,
unfriendly pierced
by sword.

Paris! Paris!! Paris!!!
Will you continue to lay on
the ground for evil to triumph?
Will you close your mind,
shut your doors because
of evils of the moment?
Never! Never!! Never!!!

Even as you wail and
curtain drops on many
innocent souls in the land,
streets, roads, boulevards,
homes, trees, walls are
stained with innocent blood;
weep not and fear no more,
but rise up for tomorrow.

Paris-today may look very
gloomy, obscure, and precarious-
for certainty, light shall come
tomorrow;
as you take solace in your
Motto:
“Fluctuat nec mergitur,”
 “Tossed but not sunk.”

City of Eiffel Tower,
shed tears no more for
today’s cloud;
tomorrow’s sunshine shall
clear today’s darkness.
Remember: your are only
“Tossed but not sunk.”

Earth-Our Dying Home:

Earth-Our Dying Home:

From outer space’s window
earth is like an emerald of
four Cs: colorful, cut or
separated into different,
but inestimable multiple
parts;
clarity of appearance, and a
gold bearing weight
of a high carat.

From sun-rise to sunset,
the sun-created-multi-color
refraction gives the earth
a panoramic view-
the rainbow effect-
which has no equal.

Earth-a home like none-
a multi-purpose habitat
for both the living and
non-living things;
home to five oceans
and six continents,
in her are the seas,
numerous rivers, lakes,
waterfalls, and dams of
different sizes and depths.

Earth-the foundation on
which countless mountains
stand,
home to varied and
many forests by regions,
deserts-small or big-
by different hot climates and
degrees of dryness.

In her bosom are
more than two thousand
organic and inorganic
mineral substances-
naturally preserved in
earth’s crust-
unending wealth that have
sustained man generation after
generation.

Tearfully, I say:
this emerald is sick,
terminally ill-with incurable
diseases-inflicted upon it
by men without conscience;
men-whose god is mammon-
sickness caused by their
cupidity, through rapacious
plundering of earth’s resources,
giving no consideration for
tomorrow.

Daily, earth is left naked by
shameless looters,
every day, earth is devoured
by heartless individuals and
groups-defrauders and
chiselers-
who care less
about today or its future;
rather concerned about
how much earth gives them-
even, if it groans.

By their conduct of
“we-don’t-care-attitude”
now bequeathing poverty and
sickness as inheritance for
tomorrow’s earth dwellers

How Earth has become Sick,

What Inheritance for Tomorrow’s

Dwellers?

Every minute over
twenty-one hectares of
tropical rain forest is destroyed;
yearly, over 180 million tons of
toxic materials dumped into seas.

Instead of giving life by
quenching mankind’s thirst,
oceans, big rivers, lakes, and
multi-national waters are now
reservoir holding poison-
hemlock which set to destroy-
tomorrow’s marine and human lives.

Each year, thousands of
chemicals are manufactured,
three-quarters are problematic-
persisted organic pollutants-POP-
non-degradable toxic substances;
mostly petrochemical-propylene
or methethylene-plastics or
polypropylene without proper
disposable method-
creating health hazards for
future world.

From year to year,
earth gets warmer,
ozone layer-the shield against-
harmful rays is uninterruptedly
depleted;
no thanks to
chlorofluorocarbons,
ammonia, sulfur-dioxide, and
non-halogenated hydrocarbons.

Every day, oceans are agitated-
their levels are unceasingly rising-
coastal and inner cities are
incessantly coming under the
threat of flooding.

Every year, air becomes more
contaminated from fumes and
smokes from industrial chimneys;
from chemical particles,
explosions at mining sites,
and weapons of mass destruction
whenever propelled or detonated,
same air gets more polluted.

Instead of normal precipitations,
acid rains-mankind keep having-
land man ceaselessly losing to
erosion at a fast speed,
because of excessive logging,
over-grazing, mining, and
heavy industrial activities.

Daily, million tons of
industrial effluents
man disposes improperly
into the neighborhood,
with damaging effects on
farm produce and
over all negative impacts on
human’s health.

Noise from industrial
machines, ship yards,
automobiles, airplanes,
increase by the year,
resulting in auditory fatigue,
deafness, irritation, speech
deficiency and physical disorder.

Yes-science and technology has
re-created the world of mankind for
the better,
truly, medical sciences have reversed
some problems of yesterday-
giving mankind some hope for
tomorrow,
no doubt, information technology
has changed the way mankind
communicate,
industrial technology keep providing
wealth for mankind,
more so, improves quality of life.

Regardless of benefits from
science and technology and
irrespective of medical sciences
positive effects on humanity;
many are the negative effects on
moral and physical well-being
of individuals with deleterious and
long term impact on human society.

Insofar as science continues
to travel on the fast lane,
mankind should brace up for
more troubles;
inasmuch as science
unceasingly and
creatively redefines
life through inventions,
mankind should be ready
to confront ethical questions that
may or may not have answers;
and moral burden they
may live with forever.

As long as science and technology
relentlessly dictating the
global pace, and
denials upon denials on
global warming by scientisticians,
resolving the conflict between
man and environment
may never happen.

Oh! Cry, cry, cry,
for our dying earth home.

Treat Her in This Manner

Treat Her in this Manner

Honor her
don’t humiliate her,
show her love,
do not leave her
motivate don’t
discourage her,
promote and never
prevent her reaching
her desired goals.

Support rather suppressing
her,
elevate don’t relegate her,
rescue don’t ridicule her.

Defend instead of deserting her,
fortify and never leave her
unguarded;
her life-add more value
don’t write down or
write her off.

Stop not at sustaining her,
neither subdue nor suppress,
but encourage and promote.

Believe her,
give no room for disbelieving,
trust more but doubt less,
lighten her load
never be a burden;
make her laugh,
never make her a cry.

Make her a complement,
not a service provider,
a partner not a maid;
a fellow builder,
not a material for building,
a team member not a
spectator at the theater.

You will gain her respect,
she will trust you,
brother you will become to her,
she will commit herself to you
eternally and
father, you will become to her.

As World Remembers Our Girls.

As World Remembers Our Girls

Because I am a Girl:

Because I am a girl,
abort me not,
rather save my life-
to be someone else’s:
mother, sister, aunt,  and
grandmother;
to be a nation builder
support women like me
to build the world.

Because I am a girl,
give me equal chance
with my male counterpart,
education-deprive me NOT-
early marriage-commit me NOT-
into it.

Because I am a girl,
do not rape me,
turn me not to sex object,
prostitution never direct
my feet at.

Instead nurse and nurture me
for tomorrow’s job,
a better wife,
a wonderful mother, and
a builder of the nation.

Because I am a girl,
spare me of all cultural barriers
that may kill my potentials,
rather challenge me
to keep building on my ability.

Because I am a girl,
never see me as
someone else’s property,
but rather asset to the nation;
give me today’s best
that I may give you “rest”
tomorrow.

Because I am a girl,
do not write me off,
please, give me a gentle nudge,
a listening ear you shall have and
obedient mind without question
I will always give.

Because I am a girl,
raise me just like
my brothers,
I shall without fail
turn good and fulfill my
four-divinely-and-society-
created-role of: a daughter,
wife, mother and a builder.

World should know,
when girls do better-
world will be better;
humankind should remember,
these individuals were once girls:
Sirimavo Bandaranaike,
a three-time prime minister
in Ceylon, now Sri Lanka
Indira Gandhi, a two-time
prime minister of India,
Golda Meir,
Israelis' prime minister at
a critical time, and
Elisabeth Domitien.

Margaret Thatcher,
the iron lady, who redefined
United kingdom and reshaped
Europe;
Maria de Lourdes Pintasilgo,
Dame Eugenia Charles,
Gro Harlem Brundtland,
Benazir Bhutto,
Khaleda Zia, Edith Cresson,
Sylvie Kinigi, Agathe Uwilingiyimana,
Corazon Aquino, Angela Merkel;
and many more in different fields
that have made humankind proud.

Let our girls live,
give them education,
challenge and task them,
create a level playing field
for them with male children,
give them same tools like male
folks to work with;
watch over them and
wait for tomorrow’s harvest.

Once more, let our girls LIVE.

As World Remembers Teachers:

As World Remembers Teachers:

Worldwide teachers do same job,
build nations through intellectual
development,
worldwide they suffer same fate,
belong to the league of least
paid professions.

Barely  do they recognized them,
mostly at risk-as drug-damaged
minds-turn classrooms into
execution yards;
globally, despotic regimes-
declare them a threat-
every time rewarded
with disappearance.

Regardless, they have
remained doughty and intrepid,
while their commitment to serve
humanity knows no bounds;
by means of tripartite role:
discovery, training, and
development,
teachers cultivate and nurture,
mind.

Through a complex web of
multiple tasks
teachers-around the globe
re-create the world of mankind

Like its seven-letter-name
T-E-A-C-H-E-R,
teachers perform  the seven
essential roles,
beginning with lesson plans-
the un-seen power behind
enlightenment,
which creates a connection
between impacting knowledge-
for mental, physical, moral, and
spiritual development,
upon which human society
develops.

Measuring students’
development-by means of
evaluation, assessment, and
grading;
providing support through
administrative duties
of reward and discipline,
teachers continually creating
permanent impressions on
minds.

“Shadow education” or tutoring
a private supplementary help or
watch over them-teachers now add-
to conventional assignments,
through counselling and mentoring,
more help teachers give in areas of
weakness and deficiency.

World teachers, as you:
Train and Educate,
give Attention to the needy,
provide Care to those under
your watch,
Help discovering and nurturing,
Enlightening human souls, and
continually Redirecting inexperienced
and young ones to chart a new course;
The world of humankind say: Thank You,
to All Teachers around the Globe.

Make Them Cry No More.

 Make Them Cry No More:

When I remember those
painful nine months journey-
discomforts of those
three hundred days-
when I recall several hours
in labor room-
the house-of-torture-
when I look at the
three-year-weaning-period,
I ask: should parents lose a child?

Whenever I remember the
immeasurable labor of
day and night,
endless toiling-in the winter,
summer, autumn, and spring-
incalculable daily-child-care
between home front and secular job;
whenever I recall all those
formative years' infinite
assignment of parenting,
when I recall early lessons and
instructions of life,
I ask again:
should parents lose this child?

Whenever I recall the
first day at school-
the joy on parents’ faces,
which later turns to cry
as they leave their child in
a trusted hand-first time and
the baby replies with a cry:
I ask:
should parents lose this gem?

In no time, Pre-K schooling ends,
Kindergarten schooling follows,
like a streak of lightning-
Elementary school journey
is completed.

I remember immense investment-
all the schools’ supplies,
all home works done-night and day-
I remember all the schools’ projects-
books, journals, magazines read,
libraries, and thousands of websites
visited.

Finally, the day arrives-
Elementary school journey
is over-
transition to middle school begins;
I remember those three hard years-
as school works become
more challenging.

Language Arts replaces simple
English lessons,
algebra, chemistry, biology,
citizenship  studies, history,
government operations at all levels
become subjects of study;
once again, I ask:
should we waste this
unquantifiable investment?

In no time,
another three years rolled by-
like a flash of thunder-
yesterday toddler is now a
senior high.

I remember the community-
service  of a good citizenship-
volunteer services
to immediate neighborhood.

Hurray! Graduation and Proms-
are here-
as a wonderful future lie ahead-
madly, I ask: should we lose this
future prospect to shooting?
Investments are heavy,
pains are much,
emotional scars remain eternally.

Stop Shooting! Stop Shooting!!
Again, I say: stop shooting.
Let our children live,
let our future live,
let tomorrow’s scientists, astronauts
doctors, inventors, managers, and
future LEADERS LIVE.

The English Translation of Yoruba Ronu
Musical & Poetic rendition
of

Late Chief Hubert Ogunde

Translation
by

Silas Ola Abayomi.

Yoruba Nation-Be Cogitative:

I look upon the earth
the earth looks very stale,
faded, and fallow ,
I gaze into the sky, the earth is
covered in darkness;
then I say: yes (ehen) yes (ehen).
What has happened to Yorubas,
oh! The Princes
what has become of Yoruba-
the children of Oduduwa
Chorus: very sorry-yeah, yeah, yeah.

Yorubas have become enemies of
themselves because of money,
Yorubas are betraying themselves
because of position;
judgment, they reverse-
declare guilty innocent, and
innocent guilty.

They will invite robber to rob-
also, inform farm owner
to make arrest,
their wisdom-once-
backbone of their success,
same wisdom and knowledge,
today’s albatross;
a pacesetter and frontrunner for years,
same people now are back-benchers,
watching from the rear;
Oh! Oh!! Oh!!! Yoruba be reflective and reasonable.

Yoruba-like nightlight-they shine
Yoruba-like sea waves-they swell and
rise;
Yoruba, forever, father and old wise
one you shall be.
Chorus: Oh! Oh!! Oh!!!
Yoruba, be Cogitative.

Yoruba turn themselves to football,
everyone tosses up and down,
if toss up, they toss down,
a small race before, now reduce
by half,
elders we should consult for
comfort,
now are inconsequential and
de minimis;
on the floor, they sit with
hands on jaws,
confused without knowledge of
what to do,
like a sacrificial lamb to
mother earth in hands of a priest,
they are.
Chorus: Oh! Oh!! Oh!!!
Yoruba, be reflective and reasonable.

Never shall innocent soul suffers
indefinitely,
after darkness comes sunshine,
let’s call on God, the King of
universe-that it may go well
with us at the end,
as game changes pattern toward
the end;
mother earth, I call you-
please, rescue us-mother earth.

Slippery land, natural barber with
instrument of hoe,
owner, bag of cruelty, spread to
check evil;
spread-on-mat, mother who sprays
ashes to heal the earth,
Chorus: mother earth, please rescue us.

One who restrains and shuts down
evil doer,
irremovable life-long mat, name of
mother earth,
untouchable and unreachable, no one
dare look, gaze at Creator’s face;
Chorus: mother earth, rescue us,
yes, yes, forever, we shall live on
our land.

Whoever betrays shall be paid
in same coin,
Chorus: yes, we shall live on
this land forever.
Oduduwa, correct matters for us,
give us wealth and inheritance,
Chorus: we shall live on this
land forever,
Oduduwa, bless us
that we may be successful
in our engagements and undertakings;
Chorus: we shall live forever on this
Land.

As Humanity Remember World Peace Day

As Humanity Remember

World Peace Day

Everybody is crying for peace
who are the peace breakers?
Every living soul wants peace,
tell me the enemies of peace;
daily, mankind preach peace,
hate-he displays in speech,
war he purses by action.
Love thy neighbor-
mankind daily anthem,
discrimination he glorifies in
all spheres of life,
unity in diversity-mantra man
proclaim always,
preference he gives to colors,
contents of character
he care less about.

Justice, equality, and fairness,
nutrients that produce peace;
hymns man sings every day,
but selfishness, narcissism or
“me first” good-for-nothing-sons-
of-Adam adopt as a way of life.

Righteousness man adores in
the open,
but the work of evil he cherishes
behind the closed doors,
darkness he condemns in
public,
light he hates when alone,
morality-he defines by-
convenience, choice, and
preference.

Conscience-he had sold to
give evil unlimited power
over good,
throne of justice-he had
replaced by temple of injustice.

Instead of love and kindness,
enmity and meanness man
worship,
rather than giving and plough
back to his society,
profit and gain man put first;
instead of brotherly love and
human feeling,
desensitize heart and
impassive mind,
man encourages and displays.

Daily, man craves for peace
wars and conflicts he promotes,
by means of arms and ammunition
he manufactures and,
willing agents of death who buy them
to commit crimes against humanity.

Merchants of death-they make fat
from immediate neighborhood
turned-battlefield,
harvests from ethnic cleansing,
massacre, pogrom, and genocide,
humanity reap daily.

Violence-man continue to promote
in the media-
hypnotizing and sedating minds-
on the altar of catharsis and
purgation.

Absurdity-media make look
reasonable and acceptable
just as man turns crimes to
entertainment and weapons of war-
he makes into toys-of-pleasure;
murder, robbery, bootlicking,
homicide, and gun-caused
deaths have overtaken neighborhood.

Morality he treats with disrespect,
by the day human society behaves
less than honorably,
abuse, waywardness,  and
molestation he loves,
because heart-of-beast
man prefers to heart-of-man.

Lies and falsehood tools in hands
of politicians who always sabotage
mankind’s march to peace,
corruption, payola, and
malfeasance weapons of
big businesses which undermine
world peace;
hypocrisy, fleecing, and flimflam
means by which organized religions
threaten and subvert world peace.

Humanity should help self to
make earth a little more peaceful,
corruption-let man tone down-
hate and associated evils,
let man play down;
politicians, big business, and
organized religions should
relax hold on mankind’s jugular,
to give man a little breathing
space.

World Poverty-Score Card

World Poverty-Score Card:

Hunger:

On empty stomach
eight hundred million
souls go to bed each night,
on the empty stomach
they wake up every morning
without hope of any meal to eat;
for the unfortunate
three million children-
malnutrition-will deny them
witnessing next birthday,
their parents,
mostly, mothers-
hunger-may reduce them to
moving corpses.

Poor Homes and Unsanitary Living
Conditions:

In slums and ghettoes
more than six hundred million
individuals live,
under conditions far less human;
in homes without clean water-
they dwell-
homes without adequate ventilation,
houses without electricity and fixtures,
homes lacking basic human needs,
dilapidated homes with fallen roofs.

Over half of world’s population
live in remote and isolated areas,
areas not readily reached by roads,
places without infrastructures to
sustain life;
places that may technically
be regarded as prisons,
unfortunate habitations
where dwellers become prisoners,
not by default but by accident of birth.

Sickness and Diseases:

Sickness and diseases have
become un-welcome and
permanent stay-in with bivouac
of humans for ages,
over one-and-half-billion
women with low income or no job,
account for more than half of
world sick patients,
with little or no dignity
death treat them more than
male folks,
because of socio-cultural and
biological reasons.

Every year, more than three million
children die of preventable diseases,
shots to strengthen body immunity,
most people can’t afford;
every year, over half-a-million
pregnant women die of
child birth related complications,
HIV/AIDS continues to claim lives,
fifteen million children had lost
their parents to the disease.

Every year, venereal, heart, cancer,
diabetes, and mental illnesses
harvest millions,
poverty and ignorance
hamstring vast majority on
medical conditions that could
have been controlled,
if victims had economic and social
powers;
sadly, children are orphaned,
live never to have or to know
parents in a continuous vicious
cycle.

Literacy and Education:

Every year, more than hundred million
children are shut out of schools,
as more schools are closed down
because of global economic
downturns;
social services-under which schools
fall suffer tremendously-as cuts in
budget limit services schools’ can
provide.

More worrisome is the quality of
education and its products-globally-
teacher-student ratio keep declining,
higher education in economically
prosperous lands is becoming a
luxury and unaffordable in
developing economies.

Instead of being oases of knowledge,
moral development, and sound spiritual
training grounds,
schools and their managers have gone
into syncope,
leaving students to their fate
and human society keep reaping
rotten fruits from abandonment
with deadly consequences that
threaten future of mankind.

Social Services:

Hospitals, health, and medical
facilities have become the victims
of budget cuts on social services
provided by governments world over,
elderly, children, women, and
people living with disabilities are
getting reduced assistance by the day,
standard of living from where quality of
good life emanates keep going down.

Globally, workers are compelled to
work more jobs under unfavorable
labor laws that are barely different
from slavery;
today, half of world’s population
live on $2.50 per day,
another billion souls live in
extreme poverty of less than-
$1.25 per day.

International Dimension:

Globalization! Globalization! Globalization!
Removal of artificial and natural borders,
integrating world economic order
into a single powerful economic order
by multi and trans-national corporations
through mergers, acquisitions,
down and right sizing, and
international market dominance
keep shrinking economic powers
of world workers.

Gender pay gap, color lines pay,
pay by specialization and knowledge
based on locations now on the rise;
workers live from hand-to-mouth,
more salaried workers are now
destitute living from
paycheck-to-paycheck,
as global economic condition
worsen.

Multi and trans-national corporations,
International organizations-governmental
non-governmental have become
modern-day slave owners,
through slave camps
they run worldwide
in the name of commercial activities-
of demand and supply.

Gains and profits from masses’
misfortune create more wealth
and power for the super-rich,
technology and collapsed borders
they keep maximizing to have
unfettered access to man’s
collective wealth.

Let the world know:
a child without food and
other necessities constitute
a crime against human.

Let humanity know:
women build nations,
a nation will be half-built or
remained stagnant
when women have no
access to medical care,
have no food to eat,
have no homes to raise their
children,
have no education and
are denied economic power.

World must know:
future may be ruined when
a child is raised in a slum or in
a ghetto,
moreover, job ethics and
morals may be compromised,
when workers are underpaid and
unfairly treated.

Proclaim from public squares,
declare from rooftops,
advertise from your windows,
pronounce from agoras,
trumpet from the theaters,
herald from on the streets,
broadcast from highways:
a little more help-
a little plough back to-
the society by every one
will certainly create an oasis of love,
belongingness, and brotherhood
everyone shall be proud of.
