Justice: A Dying Human Attribute and Character.

Justice: A Dying Human Attribute and Character.

Before your throne-
sons of man concourse
to seek redress and healing,
to complain, and
to exact reparation.

Daily, your temple is
inundated with pains and
complaints of every living soul
that gather to seek remediation
for a wrong or a loss.

In you humanity believes to
set straight something
crooked,
in you mankind trusts
to correct something
defective and deficient;
in you mankind relies upon
to avenge the wrong.

Deliberate or willful,
justice is delayed,
in a seeming reality,
justice is denied.

For people of noble birth-
powerful, rich, and  wealthy,
with ease they obtain justice,
for the humble and
people of little means,
every time they are told to
wait upon the Lord.

Justice! Justice! Justice!
Where are your denotative
more so, visible magnetic strings
that draw homo sapiens to you?

Where is the blindfold woman-
symbol of impartiality?
Where are the pair of scale and
sword,
symbols of equity,
fairness, and punishment?
Lustitia-where are you?
Themes-it appears-thou is
sleeping;
Dike-are you on a journey?

Justice-when you travel on
highway-the road becomes
safe for passers-by,
justice, when you serve
as sentry-equity and fairness reign
in the courtyard.

Justice-when thou sits on
judgment throne-
every one-free and slaves
become exulted.
When justice complements-
power-sun of righteousness
shines upon all;
when justice supports
wisdom,
peace and tranquility
reign supreme.

Justice-where thou be-
still sleeping? Wake up;
on a journey!
Please, return home.

Brussels: The City of Seven Gates Cry No More.

Brussels:
The City of Seven Gates Cry No More

Again senseless killing in
Brussels,
bloodshed in the heart of
Europe,
anguish in the land of seven
gates,
wailings in the pentagonal
city of Brussels.

How painful to know that
the cry is neither from
war nor defeat at war,
but wailing from
man-caused evil in
the historic city of
Flemish, Wallonia, and
Dutch;
the city of three great
cultures,
City of Brussels.

A day of sackcloth in
Europe as-Brussels-
its un-official capital
was attacked by the
forces of evil;
a day dark brown
chocolate turned to
pool of blood.

A day Liege Belgian Waffles
refused its early morning calls
for breakfast,
a day Brussels Potato Fries
shunned frying pans and
grills;
friteries or frietkot have
nothing to serve for
breakfast.

What an atrocious day in
Brussels as beer making
equipment kits went into
sleep with no notice served,
grains, malt extracts, hops,
yeast, and sugar declared
a day of mourning;
a day of no fermentation,
filtration, and bottle corking.

A day of standstill in
Brussels,
A day Moon refused to
appear and the twinkling
stars failed to show up
in Brussels’ sky,
a day sun refused to give
its light.

Brussels-why the bloodshed?
Why did the soldiers of
darkness strike within
your gates?

Should we ask-
ISIS and its other
brethren-in-violence-
what do they want?
What is humankind offence?

Should they seek retribution
by means of violence and
blood?
Should they become a judge
and a prosecutor in their
case of sanitizing the world?

Fanatical groups around the
globe may be pushing their
luck too far,
humankind patience may be
running out on crimes against
humanity these cowards
continually perpetuate,
humankind emotion express
by cry may be waning
because of every time evil.

Now is the time to
apply all applicable brakes-
physical, emotional, mental
financial, cultural brakes-
these soldiers of evil
receive from their sponsors.

As Belgians cry and mourn
on recent attack in Brussels;
we say:
CRY No More,
GRIEVE No More, and
WEEP No MORE.

The Homogenous Man

The Homogenous Man

Be a-twelve-foot man,
be a-three-or-four-foot-man,
be White, Black, Brown, or
Colored;
are you a man, woman, or a child?
All humans under the sun are same.

Do you live in Arctic North?
Domicile near the
Antarctica South?
Reside in sun-rise or sun-set?
With varied time zones, and
different climatic conditions
all men, yes-I say have common
needs and desires.

Profess to be a Christian?
Believe in quintet pillar of worship,
express ethical-oriented philosophy;
proclaim to be an atheist,
hold agnostic philosophical  view.

Are you a Hindu, or a Taoist?
Adherent of Shinto, or
hold no religious view;
all men have in-born urge
to worship someone supreme.

Do you drink or eat from
golden earthen vessels, or
eat from a humble bowl?

Do you eat with chopstick, or
custom made silver wares?
Perhaps, with bare hands you eat,
always fed by someone-
because of physical challenges;
the urge  to feed is common
in all men-for survival.

Class or no Class-
from poverty-stricken,
homeless, unemployed  through
manual labor of both
skilled and unskilled,
to “sandwich” or middle class, and
mighty upper class of both
“new”  or “old money”;
every living soul has three equal
gifts: time, one life, and death.

 Every human is a product of
five elements: biological, spiritual,
psychological, emotional, and cultural;
overlapping, but more so,
inter-related elements that
create individual personality.

At conception every human
lived in a three-different-shaped
uterus: grape, pawpaw, and
watermelon-
in life, homes of different sizes
humans live;
but in death, every human lives
in six feet below.

Just as each day goes in
three-equal-cycle of: morning,
afternoon, and night;
so too, every human undergoes-
a-symbolic-and-real-
three-part-cycle-of:
infancy, adulthood, and old age.

Every human comes through
a narrow door at birth,
but departs  through
a wide door in death.

Wherever man lives,
wherever woman is found
under the heaven,
Black, White, Brown, or
Colored;
mankind is same-
progeny of someone-humans  are.

Ebola: Re-emerging Black Plague?

Ebola: Re-emerging Black Plague?

Back in History:

It was October 1347,
instead of merchandise of
silk and cotton
from Asia of Black Sea region,
twelve Genoese merchant ships
delivered undesirable cargoes
of corpses;
undelectable gift and present
at Italian port of Sicily,
in the  city of Messina.

A gift that turned a curse-
a pandemic disease of
international dimension;
a bubonic disease of groin,
a pneumonic disease of lung,
more so, a flea and rodent
carrying disease,
which ravaged Europe,
destroyed Asia, and
decimated Africa.

Within ten years down
the road,
Europe had lost about
hundred million souls of
its own;
a loss that took Europe
another 150 years to recover.

Today in History:

About forty years ago,
at Nzara, Sudan and
Yambuku, Congo at
Ebola River tributary in Africa-
they told the world-five Ebola
species discovered.

Zairean Ebola virus-one of the
quintet viral carrying diseases
the most dangerous is
like the 14th-century-bacillus-
Yersina-Pestis-the carrier-agent of
Black Plague.

From then on,
Ebola-a-death-dealing-virus
has created a notorious
personality,
personality of affliction,
but turned to political and
economic gains around
world capitals,
by international bloodsuckers;
money before common good-
pharmaceutical industrial
complex.

Ebola a thread-like-viral-infection,
whenever in action,
it can bring a nation on
its knees,
Ebola-whenever on
pestilential throne-
it shuts down a government,
makes ships stand still at
deep sea,
crash-land jumbo-jets,
de-rails a-thousand-coach-train.

Ebola once mentioned
man becomes fearful,
whenever Ebola sneezes,
man-wherever is catches cold.

Ebola-the cruel and tormentor-
presence leaves nothing good,
but trail of woes, anguish, cry,
and pain;
a bitter pill that leaves sour
taste in mouth for a long
time to come.

Mankind and the Future of
Ebola:

Ebola-the double-
stranded Ribonucleic Acid (RNA),
a monster that turns all
scientific solutions to naught,
a giant that makes
scientists look like Lilliputians.

Ebola fear by all,
but hated by everyone-
is now on global rampage;
it carries no passport-
freely, it enters country of
choice-
Ebola pays no fare,
yet it rides on public transport-
anytime, anywhere, any day.

Is Ebola the modern day-
Pandora of Greek mythology-
whose disobedience resulted
in evils  escaping from-
do-not-open-box in her care?

Or is EBOLA-the new
found acronym:
Everything But Our Life At
risk,
because of man’s moral
decadence, permissiveness
and lust?

Whichever way,
pray Ebola without cure has
not come to stay,
even as Ebola made it on
list of seven world deadliest
diseases;
pray Ebola should not  join
the league of: AIDS, cancer,
diabetes, cardiovascular
diseases, and Alzheimer.

Because the world has
more than enough problems
in hand to deal  WITH.

Paris: "Fluctuat nec mergitur"; '"Tossed but no Sunk."

Paris: “Fluctuat nec mergitur”;
“Tossed but not Sunk.”

It has always been:
“see Paris and live”
today, modern Thanotos
wants it be: “see Paris and die.”

Oh! Paris the intellectual
headquarters of Europe-
city of-art, literature,
music, and culture;
what a shame!

Perses-turning off your-
Intellectual light,
giving your dolor,
wants to make you
a destructive home, and
tombstone of Europe.

What has become of
“Paradise of Europe”?
A classic city-known for
great walls, thirty-three old and
new boulevards, twelve avenues,
and seven quais.

A rare and historic city,
identified by its un-usual
gastronomy-“bon vivant”-
connoisseur of
food and fine wines.

A leading European city,
whose 1789 revolution
re-created Europe, shaped,
and redefined a new republic,
United States of America.

Paris-home to “Grands
Boulevards-Galleries Lafayette,
Boulevard Beaumarchais”;
why are the wicked
drawing blood from
“Boulevard du Crime-
Theatres de la Foire,
Porte Saint-Martin,
Boulevard du Temple”?

After all, these are mere
auditoria to entertain and
to make souls be joyful.

Why are the agents of
darkness staining
“Haussmannian
Boulevard” with innocent
blood?
Why making “Boulevard de
Maréchaux weep when not
necessary?

Paris-the innocent and
peaceful city of Europe,
in you-pigeons-have
found peace and dwell,
even doves have built
dovecotes for millennial;
why are workers of
lawlessness causing you
trouble,
turning you to Golgotha?

Oh! Paris-what are your
crimes?
Why the cruelty, savagery,
and truculence against you?
Why paying your act of
benevolence and graciousness
with belligerence and
bellicosity?

Paris-city everyone
comes-in winter, summer,
autumn, and spring to pick
ideas,
just as saffron lovers go to
“Italy, Spain, and Iran”
to make date with it.

Why re-branding you
as city of death?
Why replacing your
joyful hymn
with threnody and
coronach?

Paris-why are your haters
changing your identity of
beauty and history to
blood and violence?

Why substituting your
centuries of goodness
with evil and destruction?
Why changing your place in
history-the link between-
the past and present to the
seat of axis-of-evil?

What have you done
to warrant this carnage?
Your welcoming spirit-
the evil has temporarily
dampened,
your open heart,
the wicked has poisoned,
your large heart,
unfriendly has pierced
by sword.

Paris! Paris!! Paris!!!
Will you continue to lay on
ground for the evil to triumph?
Will you close your mind,
shut your doors because
of evils of the moment?
Never! Never!! Never!!!

Even as you wail and
curtain drops on many
innocent souls in the land,
streets, roads, boulevards,
homes, trees, walls are
stained with innocent blood;
weep not and fear no more,
but rise up for tomorrow.

Paris-today may look very
gloomy, obscure, and precarious-
for certainty, light shall come
tomorrow;
as you take solace in your
Motto:
“Fluctuat nec mergitur,”
 “Tossed but not sunk.”

City of Eiffel Tower,
shed tears no more for
today’s cloud;
tomorrow’s sunshine shall
clear today’s darkness.
Remember: your are only
“Tossed but not sunk.”

Life: The Elusive Concept.

Life: The Elusive Concept.

Is life about living alone?
Or about birth, growth,
copulation, and death afterward?
Is life about making name,
goal pursuit, live one’s tall
dream, and
then fade away?

Life! Life!! Life!!!
Tell the world-who you are, and
what aptly defines you,
success, accomplishment,
failure, trouble, crisis, happiness,
joy, peace, cry, pain, anguish, and
a journey back to grave?

Please, tell, what fittingly
describes your personality:
love, hate, peace, accommodation;
with individual make up traits-
man is yet to come to a
universally acceptable definition.

Even the big five personality
models: openness, conscientiousness,
extraversion, agreeableness, and
neuroticism-OCEAN or CANOE
acronyms-
barely explains what life is.

Life-you have become
many things to different
people;
still, I ask with tenacity of
purpose,
Life-who are you?
Where did you come from?
When did you come into
existence?
Why thou come into being?
How did you come into being?

Life is more of a mirage or
shadow that appears to be
real or factual,
but turns a play book of a
fairy tale of a pie in the sky.

Consider the blank tablet-
Mind-at birth,
which gradually turns to
a complex cuneiform-
as soon as life’s journey
begins.

Life-a journey to unknown
destination-
upon individual’s arrival;
imagine the void at birth
that turns a home-filled
experience several years after,
which may neither guarantee
success to discreet and wise
nor failure to the foolish.

Life- a metaphorical door-
that opens back and forth;
a lesson on ups-and-downs-
which begins at birth,
but ends in death.

 Do you see-life-
a long stretch of road
leading to a multiple
destinations for
different passers-by?

A lesson on-individuality-
no two journeys-even if made-
on same race lane is same.

Is life not a symbolic home of
different-size-and-shaped-rooms
occupied by different people?

A lesson that life presents
different challenges and
opportunities;
challenge by accident,
a few occurrence happen
naturally or by design,
another through opportunity
by default.

Life-like a ship at sea-
tossed by strong winds-
but determined to anchor
at shore;
does it not remind you-
most life is lived in turbulent
sea?
Just as individual weather
the-storm-of-life with
determined spirit to anchor.

Don’t you marvel at the
cyclical nature of life-
as man undergo physical growth
and spiritual re-awakening?
Just as earth revolves around it axis
resulting in rebirth, regeneration,
and growth?

Life is more of metamorphosis-
many-sided developmental changes-
consecutive or successive;
changes from things anticipated,
changes from accidents,
changes from cycles of event,
changes from cataclysmic events;
change from a failure,
change from a success.

Life-so difficult to define,
not easily discerned,
as it continues to intrigue man;
but it is certain,
when it begins at birth,
it terminates in death.

The Stings of Death.

The Stings of Death.

Death has lived with man
since man’s creation,
with force death has ruled
over mankind;
before it man trembles and
befuddles,
in its absence,
mankind discombobulate.

From sun rise to sun set,
death bears no good name,
its records and accounts
before man elicits no joy,
rather sad memories-
it relates.

Without notice death visits,
without warning it strikes,
cry, anguish, pain, and wailing-
foursome fruit it bears-
incurable open wound and
vacuum it leaves behind
after visit.

Without shame,
children it turns orphan,
without the-heart-of-a-man,
wives and mothers,
it makes widows.

Without pity and
compassion,
husbands and fathers,
it reduces to single parents.

Criminally,
families it denies loved ones,
without considering
the cost,
society it decimates.

Desirable it snatches
in their prime,
valuable trees in forest
it fells without sympathy.

With insatiable demand,
it ravages human society,
with fanatical zeal-
it sucks society dry.

In battlefields and
war zones,
death becomes
major beneficiary,
as few lives return home.

in pestilence,
in pandemic, and
during plague,
it harvests so much,
until vaults and graves
are overfilled.

In violence-death
remains joyous-
in calamity it celebrates,
in tragedy it rolls out drums,
in pain, distress, and trouble-
it felicitates.
In adversity, sorrow, and
torment,
thunderously, it claps hands;
in disaster and misfortune
cymbal, harp, flute, and trumpet
become its immediate friends.

In the day,
light it turns red or
dark;
during the night,
lunar eclipse it gives
to cast shadow upon
the earth that sons of
mankind shall not see,
but to walk and to weep
in darkness.

Death! Death!! Death!!!
Shall I cave in because of
your evil deeds?
I say: No!

Death! Death!! Death!!!
Shall I shiver because of you?
No! For conqueror, I shall be.

In face of stings you pull-
I shall never waver in my
faith-
in face of damage and
pain inflicted,
I shall bear with equanimity.

In face of setback,
you caused,
I shall never lose hope,
in face of your violent roar,
I will remain steadfast.

With certainty,
I shall conquer,
without doubt,
I shall win.

I may cry today,
be in sackcloth for a time,
cover my head in ashes,
I shall never go forever;
with passing of time
healing shall come,
pain of yesterday
shall go.

In the end,
Death-thou shall be-
silenced and put to
shame forever.

Lion: The King of the Jungle.

Lion: The King of the Jungle

Stately, it walks in the jungle
like a king it acts in the pride,
beaut, power, and strength are
its qualities;
yellow-brown-coats-
its unmistaken identity.

Before mane,
all shall bow to the king,
within its territory animals
maintain fearful distance,
whenever it roars-
the wild becomes
agitated and still.

The king-identify by
deafening roar-
stronger than train
siren,
powerful than ship’s
honk at dock.

A very social animal with
superior order of hierarchy,
a nocturnal animal-sleeps
during the day-
hunts at night.

A territorial animal
that sets boundaries by
scent marking,
king that establishes
authority within domain
by its roars.

Lion-a symbol of power and
Kingship-
a synonym for beauty and
adulation;
a representation of
honor and glory.

Who dare look at
your face shall tastes
your raw power;
whoever challenges your
authority in the pride-
between your canines
its body hangs.

Anyone that questions
your authority,
judge your action, or
condemns your activity
within your territory,
by your eighteen strong
razor-sharp claws-
it undergoes eternal surgery.

Is your kingship
a man-made or
by self-imposition?
Certainly, not-
but divinely ordained.

Oh! The king,
as you set out from your
cave and rock hole today-
let everyone proclaim:
long live-
The King of the Jungle.

Lion

A lion in majestic appearance.

Industrial Revolution: Change Agent of the World.

Industrial Revolution-Change Agent of the
World.

How It Began:
Johannes Gutenberg blazed
the trail,
fired the printing revolution
salvo,
fusillade that ignited
socio-political adventure
in Europe.

Adventure that birthed
renaissance,
nurtured reformation,
hand-reared enlightenment,
finally stopped at the great-
terminus,
Europe’s Industrial Revolution
Bus Stop.

Industrial Revolution-vehicle-
that transported Europe from
agrarian society to industrial
world,
trajectory that launched
Europe from a feudal state to
a representative democracy.

Revolution that rescued
Europe from shackles of
questionable religious dogmas
to research-based-
scientific-proven matters,
previously left to the
Church to decide.

What the Few Did to
Change the World-

From hand-woven cloth,
mankind moved to spinning
machines,
thanks to James Hargreaves’
spool thread machine that
simplified loom-for-weaving;
just as Abraham Darby’s
coke fuel method of iron casting,
made iron purification by
charcoal system obsolete.

Iron! Iron!! Iron!!!
From time long past
iron was breastwork of
economic development,
from simple household wares
to the fortified city walls, and
from military equipment to
wagon production owed
existence to iron.

Just like old world depended on
iron for development,
same iron through
“a decarbonization process” of
mass production pioneered by
Henry Bessemer created
a new industrial world.

A world every sector
stands upon iron;
a world iron becomes
indispensable with a
commanding lead,
a world iron leads,
others follow.

Transportation sectors-
waterways, land, and
railroads-
became immediate
beneficiaries of
iron production;
steam engines from
the likes of
Thomas NewComen,
James Watts,
and Robert Fulton
transformed
transportation beyond
human imagination;
revolution that soon
changed trans-Atlantic crossing,
invention that later changed
sea voyages.

Coach-drawn-locomotive-engine-
on-rail-track debuted,
handiworks of
George Stephenson and
Richard Trevithick;
macadam or road construction and
bridge building by John McAdam
followed as foot and pathways
gave way to highways, flyovers,
and overpasses.
Bridges over rivers to span
physical obstacles eventuated,
canal dredging by Thomas Telford
created man-made-waterway
that link rivers and seas for easy
transportation of goods and
services.

Yesterday’s Inventions:
The Joy of Today

New communication system of
message encoding to message
transfer, and decoding
radically transformed human
society;
telephone-electrical speech
transmitting  device-
enchantment from Alexander
Graham Bell,
heralded modern man that could
communicate with an out-of-sight
fellow receiver.

Like its twin sister,
telegraph took man several
steps forward,
just as “harmonic telegraphy”
another wonder from
Alexander Graham Bell,
a multi-message-transmitting device,
written-message-by-wire-system
became most outstanding change
agents of the 20th century.

With voice-turned-
electrical-signal-medium,
the telephone and
coded-message-medium,
the telegraph,
foundation for information
technology was laid,
mankind was just only few
decades away to conquer
the world by means of
information superhighway.

Electricity-light in homes-
light on streets and
neighborhood,
light in factories,
light in everywhere;
thanks to Thomas Alva Edison,
thank to your lamp.

Mankind little moon at night and
the little sun during the day;
Edison-your filament-designed
bulb,
the “carbonized sewing thread”
lit the world,
displaced the wick-inserted-wax-
produced-candle.

Yes, your bulb overthrown-
still and  moveable lanterns-
more so, your lamp or globe
inspired many;
not until incandescent light bulb
invented,
not until wide range bulb
sizes, volts, and output
accomplished;
tasks of several years.
Wilbur and Orville Wright-
two great brothers from
Dayton, Ohio,
the world of mankind
will ever be grateful
to your tenacity of purpose,
as you conquered airspace
by flying a suspended metal bird.

Neither will humankind forget
George Eastman in a hurry,
the man that perfected
camera obscura,
object that created images on
room walls by means of
pinhole when light reflected.

Fewer they were,
but very great were their
accomplishments,
industrial revolution
created several templates,
patterns others soon followed
to replicate and to improve
on what makes man a unique
creation.

The world of humankind may
spin in mire of greed,
gyrates in all form of
corrupt practices,
swings in hate, cause bloodshed
created partially, or wholly
through the effects of industrial
revolution.

Still world cannot dismiss the
benefits of this revolution,
neither will the world say:
it needs no more scientific
revolutions.
