Florence
Nightingale-
Face of Modern Nursing
wound care nurse
Crimean War heroine,
face of modern nursing.
Lives she saved,
lives she protected,
quality care she gave
to wounded warriors,
hope-to the hopeless.
Florence Nightingale-
“ministering angle”
smiles her slimly body
built carried to poor
soldiers,
every night she glided
along corridors,
stretching into miles,
on solitary rounds.
A lady of many letters,
her “called to God,’
examples of Theodor
Fliedner and wife,
prepared her for
future humanitarian
work;
work that would define
a care-based career world
wide.
Care, comfort, and
compassion through
hygiene-she championed,
illnesses like typhus,
typhoid,
cholera and dysentery,
she fought with vigor.
Hospital overcrowding-
she reduced with
prefabricated hospital,
hand washing hygiene-
today’s standard
precaution
for infection control,
she encouraged and
implemented,
war front fatalities,
Let the world of humankind
rise for pioneer of
modern nursing,
let the world doff its hat
for
founder of first secular-
nursing school in the
world-
let Nightingale Pledge
continues to shape-the
CARE and Humanitarian
Profession.
