stretching into miles,

on solitary rounds.

A lady of many letters,

her “called to God,’

examples of Theodor

Fliedner and wife,

prepared her for

future humanitarian

work;

work that would define

a care-based career world

wide.

Care, comfort, and

compassion through

hygiene-she championed,

illnesses like typhus, typhoid,

cholera and dysentery,

she fought with vigor.

Hospital overcrowding-

she reduced with

prefabricated hospital,

hand washing hygiene-

today’s standard precaution

for infection control,

she encouraged and

implemented,

war front fatalities,

she reduced significantly.
