Western Lands-

Known and Unknown:

Stories that excite and

gladden hearts and minds,

they always tell about

western lands,

movies that make-

western hemisphere-

looks like cities of angels,

culture ambassadors

promote and advertise;

books on successes without

failures,

western authors push into

international market.

Messages without fault

we receive everyday,

great pictures and

scenery without flaw

we see daily;

people’s mental image-

promoters prepare

in difference to reality.

Dummy they sell to every

would be immigrant:

Europe is laid in gold,

by means of movies,

North America is a paradise,

they make us believe.

But as soon as the newcomer

arrives in “God’s-own-land,”

he faces the realities,

from survival to integration

life becomes everyday battle-

battle that may go on for years-

battle only very few wins,

battle majority always lose.

For new Americana to

survive,

he puts hands on many
things

to live,

he works round the clock

in chilly winter and

in scorching summer;

he struggles against all odds,

from social and culture

fronts to economic survival.

They brainwash

non-westerners to believe-

dollars flows in the drains,

pound sterling, franc, krona, krone,

lira, and euro can be plucked on

apple trees in every backyard.

They tell every listener

food is plentiful,

social amenities are

commonplace,

hospitals and medical

facilities work miracles.

No power outage,

no bad roads,

no corruption,

no protestation,

because every cause of

protest is solved.

Always, they tell

law enforcement agents

are friends of young, old, and

people of different racial

backgrounds;  

law enforcement agents-

miracle workers in crime-

detection and prevention.

Ceaselessly, they make

everyone think rule of law,

its four principles are sacrosanct;

legal and judicial systems

work wonder without fault and

human errors.

Every time, they make people

believe that justice, equality,

and fairness,

three essential pillars of

human society are common

possessions and

inheritance for all;

but in reality they are not.

Endlessly, they tell us

there is a welcoming

spirit in Europe and Americas,

political, economic, and social

systems,

work perfectly for both

free born and every resident

who live in western

hemisphere.

The slogan “everyone matters,”

social message live your “dream”;

mantra “no discrimination,” in

land of freedom,

no color barrier

to upward movement on

political, economic and

social ladder are catch phrases.

Granted, some individuals

may cross the line to make

it to the top,

few had broken the restriction

ceiling,

negligible few now boon;  

realities are,

there are barriers

restrictions, potholes and

speed breakers on the road

to success and accomplishments.

The Realities:

Work! Work!! Work!!!

That’s is the language of

survival,

from sunrise to sunset,

on time clock you stand,

to meet challenges of

paying for all necessities:

mortgage, bills, health, and

future investments.

Credit score battle you

struggle to maintain,

otherwise you become a

financial outcast as

payment default makes

you a persona non-grata.

Life may have value

in these lands,

quality life may be yours,

but it comes with a price,

time, money, and energy,

which requires sacrifice;

sacrifice that may turn you a

slave forever.

On the surface-justice for all-

these lands proclaim,

in reality-justice does

not work for everyone in

the same way;

neither does law enforcement

agents treat everyone same way.

Were you ever told-odd jobs-

free born abhor thou shall do?

Were you told,

“thou shall keep two or

more Jobs to survive?”

Were you told your

academic qualifications obtained

in your homeland will not be

readily admissible in these lands,

even if course contents are

the same;

except until certain

conditions are met?

Did they tell you-

you may be un-officially

ineligible for certain

jobs?

Without a written law, rule,

or convention,

but by means of custom and

tradition,

these are jobs reserved for citizens.
