Pittsburgh-American City of Bridges; American City of Steel.



Pittsburgh-American City of Bridges; American City of Steel.

In the middle of three rivers-

Monongahela, Ohio, and

Allegheny-I’m located-

by means of 446 bridges,

I’m connected;

I’m Pittsburgh-

American city of bridges,

American city of steel.

From humble beginning at

fort Duquesne-I fought in

French-Indian war,

whiskey rebellion took

place within my confines,

American Revolution-

I spearheaded,

civil war-I witnessed and

contributions from me

liquidated it.

west-

three-in-one-city,

industrial powerhouse of

north,

city of arts and culture,

city of great industrialists.



Yesterday I sacrificed to

possess a sublime

today,

past-I engraved

on stone-to give

eternal testament to

generations yet unborn;

joyfully,

yesterday’s mustard seed

has turned sequoia.

$131 billion economy-

from steel, aluminum,

glass, iron, scientific

inventions to ship building

business,

I built America.

east-west rail roads,

iron from me built

the iconic bridges,

which beautify American

landscape, and

architectural masterpieces

in cities,

revealing American ingenuity.

Now that steel and iron

gone,

aluminum has disappeared,

Pittsburgh has reinvented

itself from industry to hitech,

from factory to infotech,

creating new economy for

21st America.

retractable dome-you

gave America,

bingo game-gift to

America.

Ferris wheels from you

America received it,

humanity you have saved

from infantile paralysis

with polio vaccine invention.



Zippo lighter, railway air

brake, rotary engine,

reversible frog devices-

all carried you imprint.

 

Pittsburgh-you gave America

horse-drawn farm engine,

heartland of electrical

industry,

patriarch of direct and

alternating current,

matriarch of boat and

ship building.



For more than 160 years,

food from your stable

continues to feed America,

Heinz food made you home,

proud owner of over 150

brands in over 200 lands;

yearly-650 million ketch up

bottles-you push into global

market,

to make french-fries, salad,

cocktail, burger, and

cabbage roll tasteful.



From Westinghouse-

Pittsburgh-

USS Nautilus-

American first 

nuclear powered-

pressurized water reactor

submarine birthed.


Pittsburgh-home to

Cathedral

of learning,

abode of Carnegie Mellon

University,

city of golden triangle.
