ONE KOREA: TWO NATIONS.
Sundered by world
powerful brothers,
divided by politics of
west and east,
separated by
imaginary lines
into north and
south,
sustained by
38th parallel;
one Korea,
two nations.
Seventy years ago,
with cries, pain, and
anguish,
at demilitarized zone,
brothers, families,
in-laws,
sisters, fathers, mothers,
husbands, and wives,
parted ways,
two Koreans created
from old Korea.
At truce village of
P’anmunjom-
once united people
bade themselves
“Anyoung he gyeseyo”;
with tears on faces
Koreans looked at
one another from
demilitarized zone,
waving hands behind
barbwire saying goodbye.
For decades,
DMZ had laid in waste,
thanks to nature for
being a good caretaker;
all these years-
history has been
generous to Koreans-
past or present
generations-
reminding them of
their beginning.
As
International actors
continues with politics
of division,
and third party’s war song
louder than brothers’
rhetoric.
Voice of reason
is shaping thinking,
words of wisdom
thermo cooling flaring
rage,
now-brothers are
saying-
time to end madness,
and time to reunite
AGAIN.
One brotherhood-
two Koreans-
one belongs to
world’s fastest
growing economy,
another belongs to
land of want.
One Korea-
two different souls-
one is present in every
home,
another is feared by
nuclear club brothers.
One Korea-
double personality-
one is a home to-
Samsung, Hyundai-Kia,
LG, Hanwha,
SK Holiday, and
over 200 conglomerates;
another is abode to
military tanks,
missiles, ICBM-short,
medium, and
long range.
One Korea-
two social styles-
one is open to the
world,
another is close;
one belongs to
a new world of
industrial and
technology driven
society,
another-old world-
of peasant workers.
One Korea-
two people,
two nationality;
one exact full control
over its citizens,
another preaches
freedom and liberty.
One Korea,
two different
worlds of mankind,
two empires
with different look and
construct,
two closest neighbors,
but far apart brothers.
One Korea-
two living
standards,
one is materially
prosperous,
another materially
lean,
one is rich,
one is poor.
One Korea-
two Koreans,
one Korea,
two worlds.
