In The Wheelchair Not Confined

Two women in wheelchairs, playing basketball, fighting for the ball

Legs are two rolling wheels
propelled by hands,
like every soul,
he goes wherever wanted,
he traverse every route,
he climbs every staircase,
from the base of skyscraper
he reaches for pinnacle;
his presence is felt everywhere.

Ability he brings from disability,
comfort-he creates from discomfort,
self-pity he turns to amazement,
victorious battles he makes from
self defeatism,
possibility from impossibility.

Limitations he changes to limitless,
potentials immersed in him,
he unwraps from cocoon,
hopelessness to hope
confidence instill into self,
courage he draws from
discouragement
goodness from unpleasantness.

Everyday agenda he set for himself,
daily renewal he accomplishes by
new goals,
accept no defeat for answer,
but you can as a better choice.

Never short of laughter,
love-he radiates-
peace-he wishes those
around him,
faith-he engenders-
you can live a fulfilled live
sermon he preaches to
people living with challenges.

In wheelchair-there is hope-
in confinement there are
alternatives,
in challenges-there are
solutions,
assurance he gives to
wheelchairers.Image result for in wheelchair

Child Marriage: Plights Before Me

Image result for child marriage

Child Marriage:

Plights Before Me.

Innocence in me,
society betrayed,
joy in me-
society destroyed,
wonderful future
ahead of me
society truncated.

Duties not ready for
society assigned me,
roles not yet learned
community placed upon
my shoulders.

Man I should call my guardian,
turns a stallion and
fellow I should call my confidant
makes me a sex-satisfying object;
one I should call a brother,
becomes a violator of my body.

School-society makes it
my enemy,
education-society makes it
less important;
economic empowerment,
society makes it a crime
before me,
freedom-society denies me,
my independence-society
makes it a sin.

Poverty-society set before
me,
eternal pains-humankind
creates for my soul;
even-what shall come from
me-fruit of belly,
society had already
committed social injustice
against.

What shall be called my own,
inheritance and tomorrow-
poverty and pains-
bequest-society keep for
them as patrimony,
life without purpose-
birthright-
they may possess, and
life without meaning,
heritage-they may pass on
to incoming generation.

Denials-they handed me as
gifts,
aborted dreams my lot
among homosapiens,
life in me-society encapsulates-
by primordial culture,
talents and good in me,
society used against me.

My sexuality-good-for-nothing,
son-of-Adam keep exploiting,
my cries from kitchen counter top
to inner room,
symphony of joy for
husband-father who keeps me
in his courtyard.

Life-yes-life with dignity,
I did not know or have,
fantasies-all I knew-
real and genuine life-
from pictures and drawings
I learned them.

Will this cycle of life continues?
Will my girls undergo same pain?
Will society keep treating girls
same way?

Mankind should save girls today,
give them education,
empower them to be
independent,
emancipate women from
shackles of poverty.

Give women a better life
to live;
stop rape,
halt prostitution,
end discrimination against
women;
Protect womenfolk
for them to PRESERVE
Life.

Southern Zaria: Nigerian Aleppo.

Southern Zaria:

Nigerian Aleppo?

With hands on jaw and
teary eyes gazed at celestial
heavens,
binoculars-sent on holidays,
telescope-he refused to date-
champagne-he spurned with disdain,
this night-he scorned the chirping of
birds-
just away from his abode.

Wailing, wailing, and wailing
inconsolably for innocent souls
murdered,
rhetorically-he asked,
Southern Zaria-what did you do?
Southern Zaria-what is your offence?
Southern Zaria-what did these
vampires and leeches see
in your blood?

Your blood they shed at will,
from day to day,
week to week,
month to month,
year to year,
they hunt you down in homes,
at schools-your children-
they gun down,
in sanctuaries-and-hallowed
places,
your blood they spill to
paint their lances and
sword red.

Oh! Southern Zaria-
why weeping for wasted souls
by good-for-nothing-
merchants of death and
tool-bearers of violence
every time,
instead of celebrating you.

Motherhood-the callous-
deprived mothers,
husbands-messengers of violence-
snatched away from their wives,
escaped and fortunate fathers
they turned undertakers
to arrange burials of
their massacred kids.

Fatherhood-these murderers-
denied fathers,
joy of parenting-
people without
heart-of-human
denied parents;
dreamers and future-of-nation,
tomorrow’s physicians, engineers,
teachers, scientists, bankers,
governors, even presidents,
bearers of violence and
freebooters encapsulated and
killed.

Southern Zaria-home of
legendary Queen Amina-
why have misanthropists make
you a slaughter home in
hands of “foreign” herdsmen-
whose passport and visa to
kill are their flocks?

Elders-and-fathers-of-the-land,
“ex this or ex that”
why maintaining a criminal
silence,
but grunt from behind
the curtains in your inner rooms?

Fathers-of-nation,
may Nigerians know why
bandits get protection and cover
from state security agencies to
unleash terror on citizens and
tax payers?

Fathers-of-nation,
may Nigerians know why
people’ patrimony or
collective inheritance
turns automated teller
machine to pay
bloodsuckers and
desert raiders?

Fathers-of-nation,
why looking elsewhere-
when Southern Zaria turned
execution chamber?

Why preoccupied with
“Christmas Carol” and
“Nigeria Pray”
when storm troopers
painted Southern Zaria red
in its blood?

Fathers-of-nation,
why expressing
“ran-ka-de-de”
with fisted-or-hand-raised-
clenched-arms,
“Merry Christmas,” and
“Happy New Year”
when Southern Zaria was on fire?

Today, it is Southern Zaria,
tomorrow, it may be Jos, Markudi,
Gboko, Enugu, Owerri, Calabar,
Port-Harcourt,
Ibadan, Akure, Osogbo, or Ilorin.

In spite of thick cloud,
none the less of torrential rain,
notwithstanding the scorching
sun, and
regardless of pain of the moment,
Cry No More Southern Zaria,
Weep No More Southern Zaria,
your future will be more
glorious than TODAY.

GOODBYE 2-0-1-6

GOODBYE 2-0-1-6.

Going! Going! 2016 is Gone.
A leap year of trouble, pains,
cries, crises, and surprises;
a year of unforgettable
happenings,
the year fortune tellers
failed to predict accurately,
the year crystal balls
floundered, then foundered,
2016-the heartbeat of-
21st century.

Zika virus-your first gift to
the world of mankind,
to torment and to inflict pain,
at the time Syrians were, and
still dying from war caused by
greed;
in the world only sixty-two souls
control world half resources and
wealth.

Regardless of peace meeting
between pope and patriarch,
later with Sunni grand imam,
Havana Declaration did not
deter leeches-as their swords,
bayonets, and lances keep
drawing and sucking
blood of innocent souls.

Yes-innocent souls from
around the globe,
just as earthquakes, economic
crises, pestilence, and
political quandary
aggravate already
pain-bearing people's condition,
worldwide.

Surprises-yes-bombshells,
Twenty-Sixteen sprang
eleven million Panama papers on
two hundred thousand
offshore entities released,
world stunned;
still in stupor of shell companies’
owners,
Britain shocked the world-
not by invention or scientific
breakthrough-
but through a referendum
to exit European Union.

Brexit becomes a new vocabulary
in English lexicon-a new word-
synonymous with exit or
departure;
Juno-spacecraft to Jupiter-
NASA launched,
data and image gathering
satellite,
fastest moving man-made
object in history.

From four corners of the earth
disputes and crises came,
South China Sea dispute
nearly led to war among
six nations over spratly
islands,
failed coup in Turkey thinned out
fragile peace brokered by
world leaders.

Terrorism, the-seven-point-eight-meter,
Ecuador earthquake, storms, floods
landslides, and “notorious” Ebola,
Egyptian flight 804 crash, and
multiple man-made disasters
heralded first South American
Olympics held in Rio de Janeiro.

Uri attack on Indian soldiers-
in India-administered-Kashmir-
region,
North Korea’s biggest nuclear
test,
impeachment of both
Brazilian and South Korean
presidents summarized 2016’s
political instability.

Eleven individuals-
Swedish Academy-announced
for 2016 Nobel awards,
Bob Dylan-American
songwriter, singer, and
artist received Nobel Prize
in literature,
a great departure from
more than a century old
tradition.

“Nobelpriset i litteratur”
is awarded annually to
authors in the field of
literature-“den som inom
litteraturen har…”

Twenty-Sixteen witnessed
tens of thousands of
elections, globally;
however, United States-
November 8-
Presidential Elections
rattled the world.

Unexpected happened
political earthquake of
three hundred six electoral
votes earned-a billionaire
entertainment-promoter-
four-year-occupancy-in
White House.

A complete departure from
American political system-
where known political
heavyweights-red or blue-
after thorough horse-trading
makes it to the White House.

Like a thunderbolt,
inside and out United States,
fallout from 2016 elections have
generated strong rhetoric among
red and blue supporters,
Russian-American
diplomatic row,
Israeli-American petulant,
perhaps pugnacious in
recent times.

Unresolved Israeli-Palestinian
peace deal for a two state
settlement,
pro-and-anti-Iran-
Nuclear-deal in
Washington DC,
pro-and-anti-Semitic
sentiments, ISIS’s and
affiliates’ global terror network,
world economic decline,
moral breach or breakdown, and
political uprisings in one place after
another.

What is our demand and
request from 2016?
Go! Go! Please, Go!
2016.
Let every living soul say:
Goodbye to 2-0-1-6.

Obligations of Universal Residents

Obligations of Universal

Residents.

We are the people,
people of the world,
creation of intelligent
designer,
citizens of united world,
resident of global village,
inheritor of planet earth.

Regardless of color,
notwithstanding the location,
despite religious affiliations,
we share a common destiny,
common needs, and subscribe to
idea of better and quality life.

We are the people driven by
same mental thoughts-
to be happy,
to be successful,
to perpetuate life;
we may live within same
neighborhood,
lives miles apart, or
separated by natural phenomenal,
still aspirations, pursuit, wants are
same.

Mankind-yes-humanity owes
planet earth its protection,
preservation, and promotion,
the three Ps define humanity’s
relationship with planet earth;
the three Ps remind humans
duties and obligations to
the planet earth.

Earth-may we protect rather
than destroying or injure,
earth-may we preserve instead
of annihilating or ruining,
earth-may we promote rather
than hurting or condemning.

Mankind-destroys the earth
not by pollutions,
disturb its peace not
by war promoted by greed and
ambition,
spread hate not through religious
doctrines or political ideologies,
defraud fellow humans not
through unjust economic and
unfair political systems.

Let global home be called-
city of love and oasis of peace,
let global residents be called
people of peace,
let neighborhood be called
community of people with a
common destiny and goal.

Let there be no injustice,
let freedom, liberty, and
fairness reign;
let politicians become doves,
business and economic class
turn ducks  as they “bend down
low or dive” to care for masses,
let religious leaders transform
to pigeons for their
simplicity and common good.

Yes-let religious leaders turn
to pigeons-
birds of unusual make that
give “crop milk” to feed their
squabs.

Milk extremely rich in protein
fat, anti-oxidants, and immune-
enhancing cells;
which perhaps may explain
pigeons’ unusual character of
fidelity, loyalty, and fealty.

Fidelity-character lacking in
most humans-
should religious leaders turn
pigeons,
will followers not become
squabs of fidelity?

A Tribute To The Man: Fidel Castro.

Desire to set his own free
he pursed with vigor,
revolutionary route both in
action and in mind,
he took,
reactionary government,
he brought down,
M-26-7
"Movimiento 26 de Julio,"
people-oriented-movement,
platform he created to set
Cubans free.

When all doors of help
from immediate neighbors
closed,
inward he looked,
challenged everyone to
bring their best,
tasked people of
extra-ordinary abilities
to perform wonders from
a seemingly impossible situation.

Dry land he turned wetland,
with less-Cubans did more,
just with a little,
Cubans built a nation,
turned a lightning rod to the
world of mankind.

Education he gave every
Cuban,
quality medical care
Cubans enjoyed,
Cancer-Cuba brought
under control-
mother-to-child HIV
transmission-Cubans stopped,
great immunology community,
Cuba built.

Revolution he led into far lands,
without bow and arrow,
he touched hearts,
instead of giving guns
medical experts and
medicines he sent out,
rather than sending undercover
secret agents of destabilization,
builders and helpers,
he exported to areas of need.

Rather than fueling oppositions,
or creating guerrillas
any land he visited,
United fronts he created
for oppressed to be liberated.

Rather than planning coup ‘de tat,
assassination in foreign lands,
trees of liberty and freedom,
he planted.

"Let my people go" his daily song
to South African apartheid lords,
unchain Namibia,
his message to west,
leave Angola to Angolans,
prayer he offered daily;
let sunrise and set in Mozambique,
may peace reign in Botswana,
sermons he preached every day.

Fear he became to the eagle,
his presence always terrify stallion,
even as an island,
Mesopotamia fear him,
landlocked and ocean
bounded lands adulate him.

As you succumb to death,
price-every mortal will pay,
mankind will never forget
you.
Let the world say:
Adieu Fidel Castro.
