Twenty-five years,
thirty-five, forty-five
years after,
still a “Miss,”
but society wants her
be “Mrs.”
Yes! Society wants her
be a wife,
community wants her
be a mother,
neighborhood wants her
as daughter-in-law,
making several people
across families in-laws,
if that isn’t her choice.
At certain age-
society wants her in
someone’s home,
even if no suitable suitor,
she is blamed,
she is condemned.
At a certain time,
society wants her
change maiden name,
for a new name,
even if no name to bear,
she is labeled-a proud woman-
society makes her success
looks like a curse, and
accomplishment turns
albatross.
Because society care less
about her,
she is stampeded in to
unprepared life journey,
journey that may soon turn
sour and very bitter,
journey that may leave parties
with vacuum,
journey with probable song of
regret,
journey with foreseeable
marital woes.
Because society care less
about her,
ignores her true inner
feelings,
for biological and sexual
duties,
she becomes a victim of
every created protuberance.
Because society care less
about her,
constantly-it overlooks-
her development,
inhibit her mental ability
through a culture of subjugation,
confines her to a spear wheel and
secondary place;
she becomes a victim of
every created bump.
Because of society’s
desire,
she finds self in home
not ready for her,
home both spouse have
different vision,
home of different drivers,
sailors, and pilots,
home of opposite ideologies.
Home one is a democratic,
other is an autocratic,
one is modernist,
other is fuddy-duddy,
one is analog,
other is digital,
one is religious,
other is open-minded.
Because society care less
about her joy and happiness,
her biological time clock
it sets before her;
because society is so concerned
about her reproductive and
sexual roles,
shames and ridicules outside
matrimony,
daily anthem she hears.
If she were a queen-sitting
on judgment throne-
society wants a man beside her,
if she leads a nation-of all sexes-
society wants
“First Gentleman”
beside her,
if she heads a corporation,
society wants her head
a home kitchen.
Now-not tomorrow for-
society to see singleness
not a status anymore,
but expressive definition
for the strong that depends
on no one for survival;
a grammatical term not
a legal term,
an identification not
a sub-division,
means to differentiate not
a social class.
Women need not
be
Single without Love,
but could become
Singular outside
Marital Zone.
